Derwent XL – Drawing on a Whole New Range of Possibilities

Bold Groovy Lines

The Derwent XL range comes in two types – XL Charcoal in rich natural color and XL Graphite in dense graphic tones of water-soluble color.

Graphite and Charcoal are traditional drawing tools, but these big blocks of color are not stuck in the past. These chunky blocks measure 0.787″ x 0.787″ x 2.36″, so they are big and bold!

Check out the work of Joseph Loughborough. His wonderful paintings in XL Charcoal blocks utilise the bold marks the blocks make and he’s had fun with the Groove Cube creating interest, layers and texture by overlapping the linear lines over one another.
