Thursday, April 28th, 2016

FW Artist Acrylic Ink offer almost limitless creative potential in areas not normally associated with inks – including applications to wood and leather (and to a limited degree, glass and ceramics) as well as to paper, board and canvas. These acrylic-based inks are water-soluble when wet, but dry to a water-resistant film on most surfaces. All colors are very to extremely lightfast, intermixable, permanent and translucent. The FW Inks are perfect for any artist creating craft and fine art work. The FW line consists of 66 colors including primary, shimmering, pearlescent and fluorescent colors.

“Color In Motion”

The Slow Mo Guys produced a fun video demonstrating the high quality of FW Ink:

Anthony Cerretani describes his painting style as “visualizing music”, and interprets music, live or in the studio, through color. This fun, collaborative, and expressive way of creating art is something that Anthony says should be done “without judgment or rules”:

If attending MacPherson’s Dealer Workshop, there is still room left to sign up for Anthony Cerretani’s hands-on demonstration. It is being held in the Walton Room on the ground floor of the hotel. Tuesday May 10,  2:00pm to 3:00pm.

Michael Schaffer shares his unique, abstract style of painting that gives individuals of all ages the opportunity to be an artist. He demonstrates a fun, easy, and versatile process of using FW Ink to create a balanced, dynamic, and beautiful abstract painting:

Stillman & Birn to Re-Launch Soft-Cover Edition

MacPherson Blog Post Graphic-2

Stillman & Birn is pleased to announce that it will shortly be reintroducing the Softcover Edition sketchbooks. This re-launch is in response to growing demand from artists, instructors, and retailers who want to have Stillman & Birn’s unique mixed media papers in a more portable, softcover format. First introduced last November, this new and improved version corrects adhesive issues that affected some books from the first run.

Stillman & Birn Softcover Edition sketchbooks offer permanent, sewn bindings that open completely flat. They are available in each of Stillman & Birn’s six series in three portrait sizes and two landscape sizes. The books are finished with rounded corners, a design feature that also has the functional benefit of preventing edges from fraying. The fashionable soft-touch covers are color-coordinated to match the packaging of Stillman & Birn’s hardcover sketchbooks. This allows the two lines to be attractively merchandised side by side. Packaging supports both face-forward and spine-forward merchandising for a striking and efficient shelf presentation.

Stillman & Birn Softcover Edition is a line extension that continues to offer artists the unique option of choosing the sketchbook that has the best paper weight, shade and surface for their media and techniques. These remarkably versatile papers are ideal for mixed media artwork, allowing artists to draw with dry media, to erase repeatedly, to then apply multiple washes of wet media and then to lift pigment back to the base surface. Artists frequently will push their media and techniques to the limit and these robust papers are crafted to take repeated abuse.

GOLDEN is looking forward to seeing you at the upcoming MacPherson’s Dealer Workshop from May 10-12 in Atlanta!

Knowledge is power! One of the key advantages independent retailers can leverage is the ability to offer customers superior service through educated owners and staff members that can share first-hand product knowledge. To assist retailers, GOLDEN has developed four “Demo-in-a-Box” kits that are designed for staff trainings, in-store demonstrations and presentations to art groups. Each kit includes step-by-step instructions, talking points, product and collateral.  On May 10, 3:30 -5:00 pm, experience each of the four kits (two are NEW!) and review the opportunities that theses kits present. The four kits are: QoR Watercolor Overview, Williamsburg Oils Overview, GOLDEN Acrylic Overview, and GOLDEN High Flow Acrylics.

Reminder: QoR® Watercolor Promotional Period

The QoR Watercolor spring advertising promotional period concludes on April 29, 2016. Advertisements should be planned accordingly.

GOLDEN’S role in the arts community has been to provide artists with the best tools to meet their needs. This includes an obligation to provide the most complete information available on artists’ materials from their laboratory, research, and collaboration with other innovators and material scientists. The Just Paint newsletter is a tool for sharing all of this information with retailers, so be sure to sign up for it via Just Paint Sign UP.

You can also read Just Paint articles online on Remember, since the articles in tend to be shorter than the articles that appear in the annual print edition, they make great educational content when you are looking for news to share on your Facebook page or through email newsletters.
