daniel roggerFaber-Castell has appointed Daniel Rogger to be the successor to the late Anton-Wolfgang Graf von Faber-Castell, who died last year. It will be the first time the 256 year old German pencil-maker has filled the position of CEO with a manager from outside the family. Rogger joins the company as an experienced senior manager in the luxury goods industry previously working at the Swatch and Richemont Groups. Roggers most recent position was as CEO for the family-owned eyewear maker Silhouette International where he was responsible for the worldwide business. Gerhard Berssenbrügge, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, said, “We exercised the utmost care in searching and selecting a suitable candidate, and are certain that we were right in appointing Daniel Rogger. “

Proud parents Claire Stapleton and Shane Neufeld welcome a beautiful and healthy boy,  Malcolm Scott Neufeld to the world. Vital stats: Born NYC, 7 lbs 11 oz on Sunday May 21st, 2017. Also very proud and “over the moon” are grandparents Pam & Frank Stapleton.

In more baby news, Andrew Kimball, ColArt’s Field Sales Director reports the birth of Cordelia Rose Kimball was born April 8th, at 12:31pm. 6lbs, 14oz.  Proud Andrew says “My wife and the baby are both healthy and doing well.

paul stormoPaul Stormo, former owner of Artograph, passed away on May 4th at the age of 80. Mr. Stormo served as a NAMTA Board Director, NAMTA President (1987-88), and received the NAMTA 1993 Hall of Fame Award. AI Friedman has lost its 18th Street, Manhattan lease and is in the process of liquidating inventory and fixtures. For now the offices will be moved to their Port Chester, NY location which continues at full steam ahead. Friedman’s plans to look for a replacement location to open in NYC in the future.
